Sewing humor and laser cut quilt shapes

If you don’t know me and my husband as a couple, you aren’t familiar with our household dynamic. Artsy English major + brilliant rocket scientist = comedy. After 17 years of marriage he still cracks me up with his matter of fact, professorial responses. Today I learned about Pythagoras…I know I blocked that in tenth grade out of self preservation. We have a lot of laughter in our house thanks in large part to how different we are. It is important to note that software performed the math described below but I guess you have to know how to do it yourself if you’re sending spacecraft to the moon or docking with the space station.

A day in the life of a lucky sewist

The laser is a sewist’s best friend!

Precision I can’t achieve consistently by hand

It may look lazy to cut these triangles on the laser but I don’t think anyone could blame me for using it to cut this script.

I love this laser!

I have already quilted the background for this piece. I used white fabric and gold metallic thread in a stipple pattern via FMQ. It’s not my strength but I can’t improve if I don’t do it, a LOT!

I’ll post some stills when I’m done, just know that I’ll be employing unorthodox methods!
